ClimateCrisis

Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 September 2026

By using ClimateCrisis.net you accept the terms below. They are deliberately short and written to be read.

What this site is

ClimateCrisis.net publishes explanatory writing about climate science, energy systems and emissions. It is an editorial project, not a scientific institution, a government body, or an advisory service.

Everything here is general information. It is not professional advice, and it should not be relied on as the sole basis for a decision about property, investment, health, agriculture, insurance, or legal exposure. Where a decision carries real consequences, consult someone qualified to advise on your specific circumstances.

Accuracy and the limits of it

We cite primary sources, give uncertainty ranges rather than false precision, and distinguish what has been measured from what is projected. We correct errors when they are pointed out and note the correction on the page.

Even so, we do not warrant that every page is complete, current, or free of error. Climate data is revised as methodologies improve and new observations arrive, and a page accurate on its publication date may be superseded. Figures carry the date of the dataset they came from. Check the source before relying on a number for anything consequential.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for loss arising from use of or reliance on its contents.

Using our content

You may quote from our articles with attribution, link to any page, republish an article in full for non-commercial purposes with clear attribution and a link to the original, and use our writing for teaching and research.

Please do not alter figures or quotations, remove citations, present an edited version as our unmodified work, imply that we endorse a product, organisation or position, or republish for commercial purposes without asking first.

For commercial republication, syndication, or translation, write to [email protected] and describe the intended use.

Charts and data we produce are covered by the same terms. Underlying data belongs to the institutions that generated it, and their own licences apply — we identify those sources so you can go to them directly.

Third-party material

Some pages reference or describe work published by others, including scientific bodies, news organisations, and film and book publishers. That material remains the property of its owners. Where we discuss a copyrighted work, we do so as commentary and criticism, and such discussion does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by the rights holder.

Where we link to an external site, we are not responsible for its content, its accuracy, or its handling of your data.

Automated access

Ordinary crawling for search indexing is welcome. Bulk scraping that degrades the site for other readers is not, and we may block requests that do so.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems, interfere with its operation, or use it to distribute malware or unlawful material.

Changes

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page records the last revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
