ClimateCrisis.net exists to make climate science legible to people who are not climate scientists.

The physical science of atmospheric warming is settled in its essentials and genuinely complicated in its details. Between those two facts sits an enormous gap in public understanding — one that is filled, more often than not, by headlines optimised for alarm or by talking points optimised for delay. Neither helps a reader decide what to think, what to do, or which claims to take seriously.

We try to fill that gap differently: with the actual numbers, the actual uncertainty ranges, and an honest account of what is known, what is contested, and what is genuinely unresolved.

What We Cover

Our work concentrates on five areas.

Climate science fundamentals. The greenhouse effect, the carbon cycle, feedback loops, tipping points, and how the models that project future warming are built, tested, and revised.

Energy systems. Energy accounts for roughly two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions, which makes the composition of electricity generation the single most consequential variable in the entire climate equation. We cover generation mixes, grid infrastructure, storage, and the practical realities of energy transition — including the parts that are genuinely difficult.

Emissions accounting. Where emissions actually originate, how they are measured, and how measurement methodologies can obscure as much as they reveal. We pay particular attention to Scope 3 emissions and to the difference between reductions that are real and reductions that exist only on a balance sheet.

Digital infrastructure and energy. Data centres, cloud services, streaming, AI compute, and interactive entertainment now represent a fast-growing and under-examined category of electricity demand — especially across Asia-Pacific, where the build-out is happening fastest and grid decarbonisation is furthest behind. This is a comparatively new beat and one we think is badly under-covered.

Adaptation and impacts. Sea level rise, extreme weather, agricultural disruption, public health, and climate displacement — the consequences already arriving regardless of future emissions decisions.

Our Editorial Standards

We cite primary sources. Where a figure appears in our work, it comes from a named institution — the IPCC, the International Energy Agency, national meteorological and statistical agencies, peer-reviewed literature, or established research organisations. Where a number is contested or methodologies disagree, we say so rather than picking the most dramatic estimate.

We publish uncertainty. Climate projections are ranges, not points. Presenting a central estimate as though it were a prediction misrepresents the science and damages credibility when reality lands elsewhere in the distribution. We give ranges and explain what drives them.

We distinguish observation from projection. What has already been measured and what models suggest may happen are different categories of claim with different confidence levels. We keep them clearly separated.

We avoid catastrophism and complacency equally. Overstating near-term consequences produces fatalism, which is functionally identical to denial in its effect on action. Understating them produces complacency. Both distort. We aim for the accurate description, whichever direction it points.

We correct errors visibly. When we get something wrong, we fix it, note the correction on the page, and date it. Silent edits are not corrections.

We disclose commercial relationships. Where any content on this site is sponsored, affiliated, or otherwise commercially arranged, it is labelled as such at the top of the page. Our editorial coverage is not for sale.

How We Work

Articles begin with a question we cannot answer confidently ourselves. We gather primary sources, check figures against multiple independent references where possible, and write the explanation we wish had existed when we started.

Every piece is reviewed before publication for factual accuracy, source quality, and whether the claims made are actually supported by the citations attached to them. Substantive pieces are dated and revisited when the underlying data changes — climate figures update annually, and an article citing 2022 data in 2026 is quietly misleading even if it was accurate when written.

We do not publish AI-generated content without human research, verification, and editing. We do not publish press releases as articles.

Who We Are

ClimateCrisis.net is an independent editorial project. Our contributors work in environmental research, energy analysis, and science communication. We are not affiliated with any government, political party, energy company, or advocacy organisation, and we do not accept funding that comes with editorial conditions.

We take the view that climate change is a physical problem with political consequences, not a political problem with physical decoration. That framing shapes what we cover and how.

If you find an error in our work, we want to know. Send the URL, the specific claim in question, and a source supporting the correction. We take accuracy seriously and we would rather be corrected than be wrong in public.
